Form Analysis Image
The objective of the Creature Mark is to graphically interpret a creature using the fundamental elements of design. It communicates distinct physical, behavioral, and personality traits while translating the creature’s natural form into a visual language.
Research
A ram is a assertive animal with a thick wool coat and powerful curved horns. Its strong build and stance reflect its agility and dominance in mountainous terrain.
Sketches
By sketching different poses, I was able to become more familiar with the animal’s structure and the movement I aimed to portray. This allowed me to better understand its form, proportions and personality.
Digital Iterations
After sketching, I composed digital iteration using only point, line, and shape to create the form. Throughout the process, I was redirected to explore alternative compositions which pushed me to think critically about visual hierarchy and balance.
Final Creature Mark
The final Creature Mark is a bold, graphic interpretation of the ram that captures its essence in a minimal yet expressive way. Through simplified forms, it conveys motion, strength, and perseverance.
Typographic Composition
In the second phase of this project, the ram is incorporated into a typographic composition developed using the Fibonacci grid. This approach brings structure and rhythm to the layout, creating a balanced relationship between image and type.
